Drop pods are self-contained, recoverable orbital descent capsules, each designed to carry a squad of Space Marines (with modified versions fitted to carry Dreadnoughts and other gear). Astartes warships shower them down from orbit like ordnance, allowing surprise attacks and combat drops into the midst of active war zones. Drop pods are armoured and reinforced to withstand the rigours of re-entry (and ground fire to some extent), but their only true defence is speed, and unaugmented humans have little chance of surviving the pressure and impact of hard landings.
This multipart plastic kit builds one Legion Drop Pod, equipped with a pintle mounted twin-linked bolter. This model features detailed internal systems such as a console and harnesses, as well as glueless assembly on all five doors, allowing you to open and close them as you see fit. This model has no compulsory Legion markings, allowing Warhammer hobbyists to paint it in whichever colours they choose – however, it offers a number of optional components with Loyalist Legion icons, and the box includes a transfer sheet featuring optional Ultramarines Legion icons, as well as numerals suited to any Legion.
This set comprises 89 plastic components, and is supplied with an Ultramarines Vehicle Transfer Sheet. This miniature is supplied unpainted and requires assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel paints.
You will need a copy of the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – Age of Darkness Rulebook and either the Liber Astartes: Loyalist Legiones Astartes Army Book or Liber Hereticus: Traitor Legiones Astartes Army Book to make full use of this model.
This kit also includes the components to equip the Drop Pod with a deathwind launcher – note that this option is not valid for a Legion Drop Pod as found in the Liber Astartes rulebooks, but can be used to build a Drop Pod for games of Warhammer 40,000.
