A Gálya/The Galleon is one of the most colossal, most ambitious text adventure games ever written for the Commodore 64.
The game, made between 1991-1993, was created by Róbert Olessák and is a popular and historical piece of Hungarian game development. The English version of the software officially sees the light of day for the first time, and the Hungarian version is being released in a new collector's edition on the occasion of the game's 30th anniversary.
Play as Tongrak the barbarian and Raernon the mage in this non-linear, sometimes unpredictable, but certainly absurd, satirical and surreal fantasy adventure as they traverse the island of Athar following your written instructions. First, you must free Raernon with the help of Tongrak, then save the island of Athar from the coming war.
The box of the 30th anniversary collector's edition of the game written for C64 contains the following:
- Floppy disks containing Hungarian and English versions of the game written for Commodore 64
- manual in Hungarian and English
- complete walkthrough in English and Hungarian
- poster
- also the codes needed to download a backup copy of the game
As part of the IndieGoGo campaign announced by the creator, Róbert Olessák, for the 25th anniversary, we will also deliver the published software to those who supported the release by pre-ordering. Róbert Olessák will personally contact the pre-orderers for data reconciliation.
To run the game software, you need a PAL system Commodore 64 computer, a 1541 compatible floppy drive unit, or a device capable of emulating them. The program is compatible with The C64 Mini/Maxi.
